Class Reflection Week 2
April 14, 2009 at 7:44 pm
Before this class, I used to think that podcasting was just a process of recording, but now I know that it goes beyond that. It is a complete piece of art that needs management, effort and time.
Telling a story for the ear only is very different than telling a story using the eye and the ear. During our second class, we learned many of the important aspects of a story of the ear:
Punctuation between the sentences is very important. Punctuation provides clues for the readers (just like a script for actors)
Clear speech, culturally appropriate, age relevance (use the right words).
Music, sounds and natural sounds are very important as well. They provide life to the podcast.
It is also very important to have a very engaging beginning so that people will continue to listen to the rest of the content in the podcast.
Motivate and inspired your audience is also very important.
Side Note: Podcasting can be use for many purposes: interviews, education, marketing, storytelling, informational announcements etc.
